Good feedback should help someone move forward. Start with the shared goal, describe the specific moment you observed, and explain the impact. Then make space for the other person’s perspective.

Keep feedback close to the event and focused on behaviour rather than personality. A useful conversation ends with clarity: what should continue, what should change, and what support is available?

Feedback works best when it travels in both directions. Ask what you can do differently, too.
